December Red Sky

Residents like Jane woke up to discover a brilliant December red sky. She captured these stunning photos and shared with us. Such a scene from the east indicates a high pressure is moving away and coming from the west could be a low and associated storm. Thus the ole saying, Red sky at night, sailors’ delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning.

Summer Gathering

Somersby Park men usually gather every first and third Mondays for breakfast at various Henderson County restaurants. This summer due to the pandemic, the group met at the ponds bringing their own hot coffee, vittles and lots of fun stories to share.

Pathway Scenery

Somersby Park resident Rosalyn captured some magical moments while on her walk along our trails. She wants to share with you. If you don’t live here, perhaps this will entice you to join us someday as Somersby Park is a great place to call home.

Saharan Dust

A massive cloud of dust from the Sahara Desert arrived in the North Carolina mountains as it traveled across the Atlantic Ocean. The phenomenon happens every year but the 2020 version is especially large and imposing, However the act of Mother Nature created some memorable moments captured by some of Somersby Park residents. Thanks to Kristen and Dan.
