Somersby Park residents never need an excuse to gather but it sure is fun and special when mother nature puts on a show. Autumn in the mountains is delightful especially by the fireside. Join us.
Somersby Park men gather twice a month for a good breakfast and chance to catch up. We gather at various restaurants across Henderson County. Such an activity is a good example of our camaraderie among neighbors and friends.
Residents gathered Labor Day weekend at the ponds for good brew and fellowship. Our hosts Ron and John supplied draft beer, pretzels, peanuts and popcorn. Neighbors congregated under the Mulberry tree for laughs and fun. Click here for photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/uqRST3THBsqfRZST9
Last winter we witnessed Lauren and her basketball season. It’s now time to get out and support her soccer accomplishments. Recently her club team won the Carolina Fall Kickoff Classic in Spartanburg. Lauren scored three of the goals and the newspaper reported the success.
Congratulations to Connie for being selected 2018 Parade Grand Marshal of the North Carolina Apple Festival.
Connie Babcock
In her own words: “It’s been a joy for 32 years to be a member of one of the finest groups of people who make our North Carolina Apple Festival happen. Being the Grand Marshal this year is an honor I will treasure. I hope everyone will enjoy the apples and fun as much as I do.”

Somersby Park has some pretty amazing residents. Among them is Scott B as he recently ran his tenth Boston Marathon. He is one of only 450 people who has ever completed 10 or more consecutive Boston Marathons. Check out photos with captions below in his own words. Scott makes our neighborhood proud in what has to be a lifetime achievement.
“Ready for the most miserable 3:30:24 of my running career.”
“Damn, these things are getting heavy.”Collection of Scott’s Boston Marathon metals.
