Late September featured warm days with afternoon rain, only to finish out with incredible sunsets.

These backyard photos of rising mist were captured in mid-August by a Somersby Park resident.  He said “A very unusual scene after a rain shower. I have never seen this before. ”

We’ll consider such mystical sights as Blue Ridge beauty.

Somersby Park is green and clean this summer thanks to regular showers in the western North Carolina mountains.

A luna moth (Actias luna) recently dropped in on Somersby Park residents. The beautiful lime-green moth has a wingspan of up to four and a half inches and lives for only a week. Even though this unique insect is only around for a brief period, those fortunate to catch a glimpse won’t soon forget it.
