Cleanup Crew

Somersby Park residents gathered on a beautiful crisp autumn morning to help the community. The neighborhood is a member of the Adopt-A-Highway program commissioned by the NC Department of Transportation. Volunteers cleaned Hebron Road from the top of Jones Gap to Davis Mountain Road.

Ladies Bountiful Botanicals Lunch

Somersby Park women gathered at the ponds in October to enjoy a group luncheon and to share gardening tips, including the types of plants that thrive in our area. A ‘plant exchange’ was also in play, so those with extra plants could share their “Bounty” with others. We look forward to continuing and expanding this community event!

Somersby Park women gathered to hike a trail or two and then visited with the beloved goats at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock. The outing finished with a delicious lunch at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse.

A dozen neighbors gave up an April Saturday morning to help clean up the public road leading to Somersby Park. For years now, residents have gathered regularly as volunteers to help the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s “Adopt-A-Highway” program. Such outreach brings neighbors together in this win-win activity.
